PLEASE FOLLOW STEP BY STEP!
- Bring a water sample to the store at least 72 hours before closing your pool to ensure proper water balance.
- Apply closing chemicals (liquid shock, algaecide & winter conditioner) at least 48 hours before shutting down. This allows enough time for the chemicals to properly circulate in the water.
- Vacuum the pool to remove all debris.
- Remove the skimmer basket and weir door.
- Install the winter skimmer plate.
- Install the winter plug in the return outlet.
- Disconnect the filter system (please follow the winterizing instructions in the owner’s manual from the filter manufacturer).
- Install the air pillow in the center of the pool. Tie pillow from each end to pool wall, leaving a little slack for movement. Do not over-fill pillow!
- Cover the pool (install the cable and turnbuckle according to the instructions included with the winter cover). We also recommend the use of the Cover Loc system to additionally secure the winter cover.
PLEASE NOTE: We DO NOT recommend draining any water from the pool for the winter!! The use of the winter plate and return plug eliminate the need to lower the water level. Draining water from the pool may cause severe damage to the pool and /or the liner over the winter months! Blowout extensions are only meant to be used in In-Ground pools. If you leave water in your skimmer and use a blowout extension, you run the risk of cracking your skimmer and causing damage to your above-ground pool wall. Also note that during extreme winter conditions it is advised that as much snow as possible should be kept off the top of the pool cover.
